Warm Minimalism
The warm feeling of a home, while still having a sense of minimalism is what we were after in this interior design project. We used a lot of natural materials - wood, metal, stone, brass and added just enough edginess to create a more modern look.
The new owner had a very different lifestyle to the previous one and needed more space for guests and entertainment. The cozy living area is the heart of the space, allowing free movement between the kitchen and the music room. We added glass partitions to reduce the noise from playing the piano when needed, but still wanted to connect the two spaces - both visually and functionally. The dining area easily seats 10 people and creates a space ideal for long dinners with friends.
Throughout the apartment we have used classic Scandinavian pieces, such as the CH24 chair by Hans J. Wegner and Knitting Lounge Chair by Ib Kofod-Larsen, combined with contemporary statement pieces by MENU and Hay, as well as Isamu Noguchi's Akari light sculptures from Vitra. All of these elements create a contemporary, yet timeless take on warm minimalism.
